Year End Reflections

We are on the downhill slippery slope to the end of the year… restaurants are bulging at the seams with company Christmas parties and everyone is counting the days to the end of what appears to have been a challenging year for most.

While many companies haven’t shot the lights out this year, it’s interesting to note that most people I am talking to seem to be quite optimistic about 2018.

But isn’t that how most of us felt about 2017 this time last year?

What are you going to do differently in 2018 to ensure that you can look back on a successful year?

Before you shut up shop for the year, spend some time answering the following questions…

 What did you do well this year, that you should continue doing in 2018?

Make sure you acknowledge the successes, progress, innovations, systems, processes and achievements of the past 12 months. Highlight what worked and what you need to keep doing more of to ensure success in 2018.

What did you do this year, that you should stop doing in 2018?

Identify the mistakes and shortcomings of the year gone by. Recognise the factors that held you back to ensure you don’t repeat behaviours or actions that detract from the company’s success.

What didn’t you do this year, that you should start doing in 2018?

What resolutions, plans, goals or ideas did you fail to get to this year. Identify strategies, systems, processes, resources, product or service offerings that you can implement in 2018 to take your business to the next level.

If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you can’t expect a different result.
